The Line: Kansas City Royals / New York Mets --- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The New York Mets and Kansas City Royals play game two of the World Series Wednesday night.
The New York Mets look to rebound after losing a marathon 14-inning contest in game one. Despite the loss, the Mets offense was able to string together four runs, which makes for five straight games of more than three run scored for New York. Daniel Murphy leads New York with 18 hits and 11 RBI while Curtis Granderson and Yoenis Cespedes have combined for 15 RBI. Pitching wise, the Mets have allowed 10 runs in their last three games and struck out seven batters in game one. The Mets are 4-2 on the road this postseason. Jacob deGrom gets the nod, and he’s 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA and 27 strikeouts this postseason.

The Kansas City Royals look to take a commanding 2-0 series lead heading back to NY. The Royals offense has put together 10 runs in their last three games and are 8-1 this postseason when scoring more than three runs. Alcides Escobar leads Kansas City with 18 hits and six RBI while Kendrys Morales and Eric Hosmer have combined for 23 RBI. The Royals pitching staff has allowed three or less runs in five of their last eight games and struck out 15 batters in their game one victory. The Royals are 6-1 on their home field this postseason, which includes six straight wins. Johnny Cueto takes the hill, and he’s 1-1 with a 7.88 ERA and 15 strikeouts this postseason.
The Mets are 13-3 in deGroms last 16 road starts and 20-6 in deGroms last 26 starts overall. The Royals are 4-1 in Cuetos last 5 starts on grass and 6-0 in their last 6 home games. The under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
While I'm a fan of Cueto, and he proved he can pitch on the big stage, it's hard to bet against deGrom. The Mets rarely lose when he's on the hill and he's easily the hottest pitcher in baseball right now.
I look for this series to be tied up when it heads back the big city.
