The Kansas City Royals once again came through in the clutch to win the World Series opener in 14 innings. Starter Edinson Volquez gave up three runs on six hits through six frames with Kelvin Herrera allowing an unearned run.  Chris Young picked up the victory with three innings of no hit baseball. The Royals did their damage on eleven hits and six bases on balls with Alcides Escobar opening the scoring with an inside the park homer with Alex Gordon going solo in the 9th to erase a 4-3 deficit. Escobar scored twice with the winning run plated on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Eric Hosmer. Kansas City turns to Johnny Cueto for the game two start against the Mets on Wednesday. Cueto has had nine days to shake off an 11-8 loss at Toronto where he allowed eight runs on six hits and four BB over two innings.

The over is 7-1 in New York’s last 8 Wednesday games and is 29-10-1 in their last 40 road games while going  8-3 in their last 11 interleague games. Kansas City are 8-2 in their last 10 interleague home game are 12-4 in their last 16 overall while going  6-2 in their last 8 playoff games. I’m thinking Mets here but need a line…
