The Milwaukee Brewers host the San Francisco Giants at Miller Park in the season opener for both squads.
Winning baseball and the San Francisco Giants go hand in hand and that’s because they have a great organization and tend to spend their money wisely. This year might tell us just how wisely because plenty of money went towards the signing of free agents. Bruce Bochy generally goes with the same lineup day after day which means we’ll see plenty of Buster Posey, Brandon Belt, Hunter Pence, Matt Duffy and Brandon Crawford with a few injuries hurting this team a season ago. Of course the rotation will be formidable as well with lefty Madison Bumgarner as ace with Johnny Cueto and Jeff Samardzija giving the team three great arms at the top of the rotation. Potential Cy Young contender Bumgarner draws the start on opening day but how far he goes depends on if some minor spring training injuries are a bother.

The Milwaukee Brewers were looking like the team to beat halfway through 2014 but things fell apart from that point and the team has struggled since which isn’t a good thing when sharing the same division as the Cardinals, Pirates and Cubs. The Brewers were one of the best teams in the game a few short years ago but not any longer as the Brewers traded away the vast majority of their talent and decided to rebuild from the ground up. If the lineup is to be successful it will probably be because of star Ryan Braun (who must remain healthy) along with Jonathan Lucroy and Scooter Gennett. The Brew Crew have a potentially strong rotation that features Jimmy Nelson, Matt Garza, Taylor Jungmann, Chase Anderson and ace and opening day starter Wily Peralta.
San Francisco are 3-8 in their last 11 Monday games and are 8-19 in their last 27 road games while the under is 7-3-1 in their last 11 Monday games. Milwaukee are 1-8 in their last 9 home games while the Giants are 8-1 in the last 9 meetings. I’ll just go with the potential of the Giants here…
