The Baltimore Orioles look to remain undefeated with a win on Friday night as they host the Tampa Bay Rays at Camden Yards.
The Rays head into Baltimore on Friday for their first road game of the season and they will go back with their ace in Chris Archer who gets his second start of the year and will be after his first victory. Tampa Bay dropped their first two games of the series and could very well have lost all four had a couple of bounces not gone their way but sometimes you have to be lucky to be good and the Rays were certainly lucky a couple times during their four game home stand. Despite suffering the loss, Chris Archer was up to his old tricks as he set a franchise record with 12 strikeouts on opening day and he will look to continue that trend on the road against an Orioles side that is high risk high reward and will likely lead the MLB in strikeouts this season. The Rays are however a modest 3-7 in their last 10 games in which Chris Archer starts on the road and 4-11 in their last 15 contests following an off day so some trends aren’t in their favour as they head into Maryland.

The Orioles meanwhile are 3-0 to start the season and outlasted the Minnesota Twins at home yesterday to stay undefeated but will face off against their toughest pitching matchup of the season and will need to demonstrate their power. The O’s have a ton of explosiveness with the bat as the likes of Chris Davis, Manny Machado, Mark Trumbo, and Adam Jones can all hit the ball out of the park but at the same time they are all susceptible to multi-strikeout games and with a guy like Archer on the mound they could be in trouble. However, the O’s shuffled their rotation around so they could get Chris Tillman in this one and that sets up a very exciting pitching matchup as Tillman was cruising in the season opener before a delay put an end to his night. The O’s are on fire against the AL East of late as they are 5-0 in their latest divisional show downs and are 7-0 following a win and while Archer is among the game’s best young arms I think the Orioles get another victory here at home.
