The Pittsburgh Pirates take on NL central rivals the Cincinatti Reds in an interesting match up on Friday at the Great American Ball Park.
The Pirates were very impressive in their wins over the Cardinals and were led by Francesco Liriano who struck out ten and gave up no runs in a gem on opening day. Lirano again gets the ball on Friday night and the Pirates will hope for a repeat performance. While the Pirates pitching has been good their hitting has been very good. The Pirates have managed 15 runs without a hr a terrific display of patience at the plate and putting the ball in the gaps. Andrew McCutchen is 5-11 and looks back to his best having a full off season to rest McCutchen is in the good health now and bound to be in the running for the MVP at seasons end. Gregory Polanco has also been impressive with the Pirates good start to the season and the club will be looking for him to deliver on his massive potentiL this season.

While the Cincinnati Reds are in the midst of a great start to the season and stand at 3-0 it's tough to see this continuing as they faced the Philadelphia Phillies. The Reds have a red Hot Jay Bruce who is 6-12 over his starts this season. The Reds turn to Simon on the mound who left last year via trade but returned on a 1 year deal and can be good or bad depending on the day. Simon is a pitcher who when he is on is difficult to hit but he faces a big test against a red hot Pittsburgh.
Pirates are 4-1 in last 5, Pittsburgh are 11-1 in Liriano's last 12 starts, Pirates are 5-0 in their last 5 road starts.
The Reds are 0-5 in Simon's last 5 starts, Reds are 1-9 in their last 10 against NL Central, Reds are 1-5 in their last 6 game 1
Pirates for me with Liriano on the mound will be the winner here
