The Los Angeles Angels will host the Texas Rangers at Angel Stadium with both teams sporting losing records.
The Rangers opened the season with a win against Felix Hernandez and the Seattle Mariners but have lost three on the bounce now and face an Angels team who have won for the first time last night. The Rangers gave Aj Griffen his place on the roster and he will be playing his first Major League Start in 2 years. Griffen actually last played in the MLB against the Angels and in five starts he has gone 2-2 with an ERA of 2.28. Before his injury Griffen was a dependable pitcher and I think he is a solid option for a Rangers roster with plenty of front end talent. Hitting though has been a problem for the Rangers winning game one with just one hit. Prince Fielder is as good as there is in the league and will get his hits as he always does but the Rangers need more from Roughod Odor and Adrian Beltre.
The Angels won on Thursday as Albert Pujols knocked in the game winning run. Pujols and Trout are a potent combo and if teams are to beat the Angels they ave to nullify that power and pace. The Angels have Matt Shoemaker going to the mound today , he was terrible in Spring training giving up 19 runs in 25 innings but was the Angels best pitcher last season and will look to recover that form here on Friday night.
The Rangers are 1-4 in their last five, 1-4 in their last 5 in LA and 1-6 in their last seven overall.
The Angels are 4-1 in their own last 5 aganist an opponent with less than .400, Angels are 6-1 in their last 7 against a right hander.
I think we will take the hotter team here and that's the Angels, home advantage with a clear advantage batting and on the mound this one should be an easier victory for the Angels than Thursday's struggle
