The Baltimore Orioles host the Toronto Blue Jays in American League East action.
Even though the season is still young the Toronto Blue Jays know every win and loss is critical in the American League East. The Blue Jays offense came up big with a four run 8th and then survived shaky work out of the pen to knock off the Red Sox 4-3 in Monday’s series finale’. Starter JA Happ improved to 2-0 with a run on four hits over seven frames before Drew Storen gave up three hits and two runs in an ugly bottom of the 9th. The Jays totaled eight hits and walked seven times with Russell Martin going 2-4 with a pair of RBI’s while Kevin Pillar went 3-3 with a run as Toronto hit in to five double plays to constantly shoot themselves in the foot. The Blue Jays turn to Marcus Stroman on the hill in the series opener against the Baltimore Orioles Tuesday. Stroman upped his record to 2-0 after a 4-2 win versus the Yankees with both runs given up on three hits and two BB over eight frames.

The Baltimore Orioles will try to regroup after dropping two of three to the Texas Rangers. The Orioles come off an 8-4 loss to the Rangers which featured blowing a 4-1 lead with Texas scoring six runs in the 7th. Starter Yovani Gallardo allowed four runs on nine hits and two BB in six frames with TJ McFarland charged with three runs in 1/3 of an inning to blow the save and take the loss. The O’s had opportunities to do more damage with ten hits and a trio of bases on balls with homers from Manny Machado, Adam Jones and Chris Davis but they were all solo shots. Mike Wright gets the call to the mound for the Baltimore Orioles against the rival Toronto Blue Jays. Wright defeated Boston 9-6 in his lone start with four runs plated on five hits on five innings.
Toronto are 9-2 in Stroman’s last 11 starts. Baltimore are 13-3 in their last 16 overall and are 13-3 in their last 16 games on grass while going 13-3 in their last 16 home games. No real big secret here as I like Stroman and think the Toronto offense will get him some runs…
