The Detroit Tigers visit Kauffman Stadium to face AL Central foe the Kansas City Royals.
Despite losing two of three at Houston over the weekend the Detroit Tigers have looked like a team capable of winning the American League Central. The Tigers fell behind 5-0 early before a rally fell just short in a 5-4 defeat on Sunday. After two brilliant starts, Anibal Sanchez struggled with all five runs plated (four earned) on eight hits including a pair of homers over five frames to fall to 2-1. The dangerous Detroit offense logged eight hits and walked once with Ian Kinsler, JD Martinez and Jarrod Saltalamacchia each smacking long balls. The Detroit Tigers send Shane Greene to the bump for the second time in 2016. Greene won his season debut by a 7-3 count versus the Pittsburgh Pirates with two runs allowed on three hits and three walks in six frames.

The Kansas City Royals are the obvious choice to capture another American League Central crown as they seem to get pitching when needed or the key hit to drive in runs. The Royals will be looking to get back in the win column following back to back defeats after a 3-2 loss at Oakland on Sunday. The defense, pen and offense each had a hand in the loss which doesn’t usually happen with KC. Starter Kris Medlen gave up a pair of runs (one earned) on two hits and four walks over 6.1 innings before Joakim Soria gave up an 8th inning run to absorb the loss. The Royals mustered only six hits and a pair of walks with Mike Moustakas going solo with Alex Gordon driving in Eric Hosmer. Yordano Ventura toes the rubber for the Kansas City Royals against the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday. Ventura comes off of a 4-2 victory at Houston with a run allowed on four hits and three BB over six innings.
The over is 12-3-1 in Detroit’s last 16 Tuesday games and is 6-2 in their last 8 overall while the Tigers are 6-2 in their last 8 road games. Kansas City are 9-1 in their last 10 games following a loss and the under is 9-2-1 in their last 12 overall while going 9-2-1 in the Royals last 12 on grass. Greene dominated Kansas City in a lone start last season and struggled late in the year. I’m hoping the struggles return and the Royals get back to business…
