The Arizona Diamondbacks return home after sweeping the San Francisco Giants and will welcome the Pittsburgh Pirates to Chase Field on Friday night.
The Pirates head into Arizona looking to continue their winning ways after waxing the San Diego Padres on the road last night and with a win the Pirates can move above the .500 mark and possibly jump into second place behind MLB leading Cubs. Pittsburgh has high hopes for this season but will be in tough in the NL Central as there are some very strong lineups in the division but the Bucs are right in the mix and have become a playoff staple over the last couple of seasons and in this one they will send Jonathan Niese to the hill as he will face off against Patrick Corbin. The Pirates are 1-5 on the road this season but are 47-20 in their last 67 games against the NL West but are dealing with a red hot Diamondbacks side that has won five in a row and beat some pretty solid pitchers along the way including Madison Bumgarner and Johnny Cueto in San Fran.

The Diamondbacks were dealt a serious blow when they lost AJ Pollock but they still possess a very solid team and have a great rotation led by the Zack Greinke, Shelby Miller, and Corbin who gets the ball tonight after his running mates put up great outings against the Giants this week. Arizona is 7-1 in their last eight against a team with a losing record but are a woeful 1-10 in their last 11 games against the NL Central but with a slight pitching edge here with Corbin going up against Niese and the Bucs throwing up 11 runs on the Padres last night I think Arizona is due for the win here as the Bucs may be out of gas from last night’s shellacking of San Diego.
