The Los Angeles Angels look to control the bats of the visiting Seattle Mariners on Friday.
The Seattle Mariners aren’t known for their ability to light up the scoreboard but when they do the game has to be won which they did in Thursday’s 10-7, ten inning win at Cleveland where they blew a 5-0 lead. Starter Nathan Karns looked to be in control until he faded with five runs plated (four earned) on five hits and four BB in five frames before Joaquin Benoit serving up a two run bomb in the 8th to tie things up. The M’s pounded out 14 hits and walked five times with Robinson Cano launching a three run homer in the 10th to win it with Steve Clevenger going deep with a pair of RBI’s and two runs scored. Nelson Cruz also drove in two runs while Cano and Adam Lind scored twice each. The Seattle Mariners send a hot Felix Hernandez to the bump looking for his second victory. In three outings, Hernandez is 1-1 with a 1.22 WHIP and 1.00 ERA over 18 innings pitched.

The Los Angeles Angels a short winning streak away from making a run at he top of the American League West. Thursday was a good start with a 3-2 victory at the tough Chicago White Sox. A few clutch hits and an outstanding performance on the mound from Jered Weaver did the trick. Weaver tossed a here hitter with a solo homer through seven innings to up his record to 2-0. The Halos didn’t crush the ball with six hits but they did walk seven times with Mike Trout slamming a two run jack with Carlos Perez recording an RBI. Nicholas Tropeano looks to give the Los Angeles Angels another strong performance versus Seattle on Friday night. In two starts, Tropeano has allowed one run over 10.2 innings.
Seattle are 8-17 in their last 25 overall and are 8-17 in their last 25 games on grass while the under is 18-8 in Hernandez’s last 26 road starts. Seattle are 9-3 in Hernandez’ last 12 starts versus the Angels. Right or wrong I’ll go with one of the best hurlers in the game…
