The Pittsburgh Pirates continue their series at Chase Field and the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Pittsburgh Pirates have yet to find their groove and obviously would like to find it sooner then later. The Pirates 8-7 win at Arizona was perhaps a step in the right direction with the offense coming up big. Jon Niese gave the Buccos 5.1 frames with four runs scored on ten hits including a pair of homers with Tony Watson allowing three runs (one earned). Pittsburgh hammered out 13 hits and walked twice with Sean Rodriguez going deep and driving in three while Jordy Mercer and Gregory Polanco went solo. Juan Nicasio takes the ball for the Pittsburgh Pirates who he last saw in 2014. Nicasio comes off a 9-3 victory versus Milwaukee with all three runs plated on five hits and two BB over six frames.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are hopeful that the few changes made in the offseason are enough to make them a challenger in the National League West. The Diamondbacks wouldn’t go away against visiting Pittsburgh Friday but couldn’t quite get the victory either. The Diamondbacks received six innings from Patrick Corbin who gave up five runs (four earned) on seven hits including three homers with Silvino Bracho and Randall Delgado allowing three runs. Zona mashed out 15 hits with Wellington Castillo cracking a pair of solo jacks while David Peralta went deep and scored twice. Rubby De La Rosa toes the rubber for the Arizona Diamondbacks in Saturday’s bout with the Pirates. De La Rosa absorbed a 3-1 loss at Los Angeles with all three runs scored (two earned) on six hits in 4.2 innings.
Pittsburgh are 8-3 in their last 11 Saturday games. If you look at the pitching match up you could say both are capable of throwing well and winning and not so well with plenty of runs allowed. I guess what I’m saying is this is a complete toss up and something of a guess…
