The Line: Arizona Diamondbacks +113 / Pittsburgh Pirates -123 --- Over/Under: 8.5 See the Latest Odds
The Arizona Diamondbacks look for an encore performance at home on Sunday after they broke out for seven runs against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday.
The Pirates continue their series at Chase Field against the D-Backs on Sunday looking to rebound after getting waxed last night and will send Francisco Liriano to the bump who will face of against Robbie Ray who is 1-0 with a sparkling 1.96 ERA. Pittsburgh sits with a 9-9 record and are 4-6 in their 10 contests away from home but with a potent offense that is only going to get better with Jung-Ho Kang on his way back I think we can expect the Pirates to make significant strides forward and that could start against Ray and the Diamondbacks on Sunday. Pittsburgh is 21-5 in Liriano’s last 26 starts and are 10-1 in his last 11 starts with four days rest which bodes well for he and the Pirates in this spot against a very inexperienced pitcher on the other side.

Arizona meanwhile is 10-9 on the year after a 7-1 win last night and will look to carry that momentum over into Sunday against the veteran Liriano. The Diamondbacks are considered a playoff team by a lot of circles and even without AJ Pollock they have a pretty solid roster that can compete in the NL West if they can get their pitching on par with their bats. The D-Backs are 6-1 in their last seven games and are 5-1 in Ray’s last six starts which makes them a trendy pick in this spot against a Pirates side looking for a rebound but with Liriano having a much better track record I think the Pirates get back on track. Take Pittsburgh.
