The Baltimore Orioles look to stretch their lead in the AL East with a win at the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Baltimore Orioles look dangerous in the early stages of the season but a winnable game went by the wayside in a 3-1 defeat at Tropicana Field Tuesday night. Blame this on the offense as the Orioles stayed competitive thanks to starter Ubaldo Jimenez who gave up all three runs on six hits and three free passes over six frames. The O’s had a few opportunities at the plate on nine hits and a walk with Mark Trumbo going 2-4 with a run scoring single that scored Chris Davis with the only run. The Baltimore Orioles send out Chris Tillman to face Tampa Bay this season. Tillman comes off a 3-2 win versus the Blue Jays (ND) with a pair of runs plated on four hits and four walks in six innings.

The Tampa Bay Rays don’t possess a big time offense that will outscore opponents so scratching out a few runs and letting the pitching control the scoreboard is the key to their success. That was the key Tuesday as Rays starter Jake Odorizzi gave up the only run on seven hits through five innings while four reliever held the Baltimore attack in check. The Rays totaled seven hits and walked four times with Kevin Kiermaier leading the way with a two run homerun. The Tampa Bay Rays look for left hander Matt Moore to rebound from his worse start of the year. Moore was tagged for four runs on eight hits and a pair of free passes in a 6-3 road loss to the Yankees.
Baltimore are 8-3 in their last 11 Wednesday games and are 16-7 in their last 23 overall while the under is 5-2-1 in Tillman’s last 8 starts overall. The under is 8-1-1 in Tampa Bay’s last 10 on astroturf and is 8-1-1 in their last 10 home games while going 11-4-3 in the Rays last 18 overall. I could make an argument for either squad and likely will just watch this…
