The Toronto Blue Jays travel to Tropicana Field to face the rival Tampa Bay Rays in Friday action.
The offensive minded Toronto Blue Jays have been struggling to put runs on the scoreboard and that means wins have been hard to find. The Blue Jays have dropped six of eight after a 4-0 loss to the White Sox on Wednesday night. The work on the mound was fine with Marco Estrada giving the Jays 6.2 innings with three runs plated on three hits and four free passes. Toronto totaled four hits and three walks with Josh Donaldson going 2-3 with a walk while Ryan Goins went 1-3 with a walk.Tampa Bay hopes Aaron Sanchez can rebound from his poorest outing of the young season when he gets the ball on Friday. Sanchez was charged with six runs on ten hits over 4.1 frames in an 8-5 defeat versus Oakland.

The Tampa Bay Rays are the opposite of their counterparts in that they need their pitching to win games because scoring isn’t a specialty. Having said that, a great effort on the mound wasn’t enough in a 3-1 defeat to visiting Baltimore that put an end to a three game winning streak. TB starter Matt Moore was solid with three runs scored on three hits and a pair of bases on balls while whiffing nine through seven innings that dropped him to 1-2. The Tampa Bay attack consisted of four hits and three free passes with Steve Pearce slapping a pinch hit double that scored Brandon Guyer in the bottom of the 9th. Left hander Drew Smyly toes the rubber against the Blue Jays for the second time in 2016. Smyly shoots for his third straight victory following an 8-1 victory at the Yankees with the lone run scored on six hits in seven innings.
The under is 12-3-1 in Toronto’s last 16 road games and Toronto are 2-6 in their last 8 overall while the under is 7-2 in Sanchez’s last 9 on astroturf. The under is 10-1-1 in Tampa Bay’s last 12 on astroturf and is 10-1-1 in their last 12 home games while going 15-6-2 in Smyly’s last 23 starts overall. No lock here because the Jays beat Smyly already so this might be a stretch…
