The Los Angeles Angels go on the road to begin a series with the Texas Rangers with first in the ALL West up for grabs.
It’s early in the season but I always say a team is not a threat until they get over .500 and the Los Angeles Angels are sitting at 11-11 and which is a game behind the Rangers in the AL West. The Angels have been playing their best baseball after sweeping Kansas City following a 4-2 victory on Wednesday night. LA Angels starter Nicholas Tropeano allowed two first inning runs and lasted 5.1 frames with eight hits and two walks given up for a ND while three relievers held the Royals off the scoreboard. The Angels totaled five hits and walked twice with Mike Trout slugging a two run bomb while Yunel Escobar and Andrelton Simmons went solo. Left hander Hector Santiago gets the starting nod from the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night. Santiago looks for his third straight win after knocking off Seattle 4-2 with both runs plated on four hits and a pair of BB in six frames.
USA TODAY Sports
The Texas Ranges are sitting in the top spot of the American League West at 12-10 following back to back victories that snapped a four game slide. The Rangers squeezed by the Yankees 3-2 behind great pitching from starter Martin Perez who allowed both runs on six hits and two free passes through six innings to improve to 1-2. The Texas offense did their damage on five hits and a trio of walks with Adrian Beltre, Elvis Andrus and Hanser Alberto driving in runs while eight starters reached base overall.Colby Lewis will be on the bump for the Texas Rangers for his 5th start of the season. Lewis did not receive a decision in a 4-3 loss at the White Sox with a single run scored on six hits and four BB in six innings.
The under is 8-2-1 in the Angels last 11 overall and the under is 8-2-1 in their last 11 on grass while Los Angeles is 10-1 in Santiago’s last 11 starts. The under is 11-4-2 in Texas last 17 Friday games and the over is 8-3 in their last 11 home games while the Rangers are 35-16 in their last 51 home games. Texas are 1-8 in Lewis' last 9 starts versus the Angels and the over is 8-2-1 in the last 11 meetings in Texas. I hate to go against Texas at home in this one but the better odds in this for me…
