The Boston Red Sox look to build on their massive win at Yankee Stadium last night as they return home to face off against Sonny Gray and the Oakland Athletics.
The A’s head into Monday night’s game looking to ride the coat tails of their ace once again as Gray goes head to head with one of the league’s best hitting lineups and will certainly be a challenge for one of the game’s best arms. Oakland has surprised a lot of people with how they have played this season as they have another group of rag tag type of players but have 14 wins in 32 games and could very well challenge for a playoff spot out of the AL West this season. The A’s are coming off an 11-3 thumping at the hands of the Baltimore Orioles yesterday but will look to turn the tables on Monday as they face off against Clay Buchholz who continues to struggle and is susceptible to getting hit hard even from the lightest of teams.

The Red Sox continued their strong start to the season with a win on the road against the hated Yankees last night thanks to two home runs from Big Papi who continues his swan song in style. Boston will be out for their 18th win of the year tonight as they face off against an Athletics side that is a scrappy group but can run dry against a good pitcher and while Buchholz hasn’t been himself over the last couple of seasons we have seen him throw some smoke in year’s past.
The Athletics are a measly 14-40 in their last 54 road games against a team with a winning record at home, 1-4 in their last five road games, and 1-6 in their last seven overall while the Red Sox are 4-1 in their last five home games, 10-4 in their last 14 overall, but 1-6 in Buchholz’ last seven starts. This shakes up to be an interesting game and while the Sox have been the better of the two teams I do like the pitching match up for the A’s as Sonny Gray gets back in the win column.
