The St. Louis Cardinals look to shake off a loss at the Ravine last night as they continue their series on Sunday against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Cardinals look for their 20th victory of the season as they take on the Dodgers in Los Angeles on Sunday and they need a strong outing out of Mike Leake who has struggled so far this season with a 1-3 record and a 5.10 ERA. St. Louis always seems to find themselves in the mix for the NL Central crown but with the Cubs taking over as the team to beat and the Pirates looking like a playoff team once again it could be a year on the outs for the red birds who could be due for a franchise regression after years in the limelight. The Cards will take on Alex Wood who is 1-3 with a 4.58 ERA this season but he is excellent when pitching at home and that is exactly where we find him on Sunday.

The Dodgers head into tonight’s game with an identical record to the Cards at 19-17 and will look to build on their win yesterday where they were able to put up five runs in the process. Los Angeles has a very dangerous lineup and possess one of the most expensive rosters in the league and with a balance of speed and power they are a tough out for any team and with their front end of the rotation being strong they will be a nightmare matchup come playoff time.
The Cards are 8-2 in their last 10 game three’s of a series, 21-10 in their last 31 against a lefty, and 1-6 in their last seven road games against a team with a winning record while the Dodgers are 6-1 in their last seven against a righty, 4-1 in their last five overall, and 11-3 in their last 14 against the NL Central. Alex Wood hasn’t been great overall but always pitches well at home and I like he and the Dodgers to get it done again on Sunday.
