The San Diego Padres end their trip to Miller Park in the final game of their series with the Milwaukee Brewers.
The San Diego Padres don’t typically light up the scoreboard so when they do a lead can not be squandered and the game has to be won. The Padres led the 6-2 in the 5th before the offense stopped scoring and the pen began letting in runs before finally winning 8-7 in 12 frames. SD starter Luis Perdomo gave up two runs in two innings with Kevin Quackenbush and Brandon Mauer were charged with two runs apiece. San Diego logged 13 hits and walked five times with Wil Myers, Derek Norris, Melvin Upton Jr. and Matt Kemp each hit homers. San Diego sends rookie Cesar Vargas to the bump for his 5th career start and first versus Milwaukee. Vargas will be looking to bounce back from an 8-7 defeat at the Cubs where he allowed six runs on ten hits in four innings.

The Milwaukee Brewers did what they do best Saturday and that’s score runs but unfortunately the offensively challenged Padres came up a bit bigger at the plate. Brewers starter Wily Peralta and his struggles continued with six runs plated on eight hits including a pair of solo jacks through 4.2 innings. Five relievers put up zeros before Chris Capuano served up a pair of solo homers in the 13 to absorb the defeat. The Brew Crew posted ten hits and walked an amazing 12 times with Jonathan Lucroy cracking a solo bomb in the 13th while Kirk Nieuwenhuis went 3-6 with three RBI’s and a run while Lucroy and Domingo Santana combined for five runs. The Milwaukee Brewers send Zach Davies to the hill to face San Diego on Sunday afternoon. Davies defeat Miami 10-2 on the road last time out with both runs scored on five hits and three BB in five frames.
San Diego are 6-20 in their last 26 Sunday games and the under is 12-4 in their last 16 road games. The over is 7-2-1 in the Brewers last 10 home games. The Padres are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings and the under is 9-4 in the last 13 meetings in Milwaukee. No real feel here so I’ll take the home team in a coin flip…
