Tropicana Field and the Tampa Bay Rays host the Oakland Athletics in Sunday’s final game.
The Oakland Athletics need some kind of boost and their offense and pitching didn’t provide it in Saturday’s 6-0 loss at Tropicana Field. Athletics starter Kendall Graveman took the loss with four runs plated on six hits and three base on balls over 5.2 frames while two relievers allowed a run each. The A’s offense never got going with two hits and zero walks with Danny Valencia and Matt McBride recording singles. Sonny Gray looks to right the ship when he toes the rubber at Tropicana Field. In his last three starts Gray has allowed 18 runs on 21 hits and seven BB covering 12.2 innings.

The Tampa Bay Rays are also a team in need of a boost and this team generally needs scoring. That wasn’t an issue for the Rays Saturday as they received plenty of pitching and hitting. TB starter Matt Andriese was as good as we have seen him with a complete game two hitter with zero walks. The Tampa Bay offense took care of the rest on eight hits and six free passes with Brad Miller slugging a two run homer wile Brandon Guyer knocked in two and scored with Kevin Kermaier drove in a run and also scored. A struggling Matt Moore takes the hill against the Athletics for the first time since 2012.Moore suffered a 5-2 loss a Seattle last time out with two runs allowed on seven hits and four BB over 4.2 frames.
The over is 12-3-1 in Oakland’s last 16 road games and Oakland are 2-8 in their last 10 Sunday games while the over is 15-5-1 in their last 21 overall. The under is 13-4-1 in Tampa Bay’s last 18 on astroturf and the under is 13-4-1 in their last 18 home games while the over is 9-4-2 in Moore’s last 15 Sunday starts. Usually I would auto pick Gray but in al; honesty I don’t like the form of either hurler…
