The Minnesota Twins look to build on their victory yesterday against the Indians as they head into Comerica Park to face off with the Detroit Tigers.
The Twins haven’t had much to cheer about so far this season but they did have one of their better outings of the year against the Indians in Cleveland yesterday and will look to carry that over against another AL Central rival in Detroit. Minnesota does have some nice pieces in place and could be back in the playoff discussion in the next couple of seasons but right now they are in the basement and will likely stay around there moving forward as they don’t have enough quite yet to be competitive with the big dogs of their division. The Twins will send Jose Berrios to the mound who will look to bring down his 6.28 ERA as he will match up against Jordan Zimmermann who is 5-2 with a 1.50 ERA to start the season.

The Tigers have had a very tough start to the season despite a stellar few games from Zimmermann as they are a very disappointing 16-21 heading into Monday’s action and are hoping a series with the lowly Twins is the medicine they need to get rolling. Detroit has a ton of weapons at their disposal at the plate as guys like Miguel Cabrera, Nick Castellanos, Justin Upton, and Ian Kinsler are still on the roster but they haven’t been able to get on the same page at a consistent pace and as such they have struggled out of the gate.
The Twins are 1-8 in their last nine when their opponent scores five or more runs in their previous outing, 9-24 in their last 33 against a righty, and 4-17 in their last 21 against the AL Central while the Tigers are 2-11 in their last 13 overall, 3-8 in their last 11 Monday games, and 3-7 in their last 10 home games but they get rolling here as they welcome the Twins to town. Zimmermann shines again.
