The Chicago Cubs look to stay hot when they visit Miller Park to face the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Chicago Cubs have been the hottest team in the game but not unbeatable as we saw Sunday in a 2-1 loss to visiting Pittsburgh on Sunday. Gerrit Cole outdueled Cubs starter Jon Lester who gave up a run on two hits and a pair of BB while striking out nine over 6.2 frames before Hector Rondon surrendered a solo homer. The Cubbies offense was held to four hits and a base on balls with an Anthony Rizzo sacrifice fly driving in Dexter Fowler in the bottom of the 9th. The Cubs send Kyle Hendricks to the bump for his second match up of 2016 with the Brewers. Hendricks did not receive a decision in a 7-4 defeat to San Diego with three runs allowed (two earned) on six hits over 6.2 innings.

The goal for the Milwaukee Brewers goal is to play .500 baseball and try to stay in the National League Central race which is really a tall order. The Brewers will try to build on Sunday’s 3-2 win versus visiting San Diego behind a stellar effort on the mound from Zach Davies who did not receive a decision with both runs scored on three hits through 6.1 innings. The Brew Crew totaled eleven hits with Chris Carter going 3-2 with a two run jack while Jonathan Lucroy went solo. The Brewers open the series with the Cubs with Chase Anderson on the hill. Anderson had been struggling but threw the ball well in a 3-2 loss at Miami with all three runs plated on three hits and a walk in six frames.
The over is 7-0-1 in the Cubs last 8 road games and the Cubs are 8-1 in their last 9 games following a loss while the over is 15-5-2 in their last 22 overall. The over is 8-3-1 in the Brewers last 12 home games. Chicago are 21-6 in the last 27 meetings and the under is 33-16-2 in the last 51 meetings. I know the Cubs lost Sunday but until they come back to earth…
