he Seattle Mariners look to build on their impressive afternoon win against the Baltimore Orioles yesterday as they continue their road trip on Friday against the Cincinnati Reds.
The M’s head into Cincinnati looking to continue their impressive start to the season and look to keep the bats hot after putting up back to back explosive efforts against the Orioles, and with the Reds struggling mightily right now it would come as no surprise to see Seattle’s ascent continue. Seattle has a very nice roster and a rotation that has some question marks but is loaded with all-star potential that is anchored of course by Felix Hernandez and if they can continue to get production of Hisashi Iwakuma and Taijuan Walker they will be in very good shape in a battle for the American League West crown.

The Reds meanwhile continue their tough go at home after getting pasted by the Cleveland Indians last night and things don’t get much easier as they welcome a Seattle side that can hit the ball just as hard just as often as the team on their way out. Cincy does have a couple of nice pieces in place but their rotation has been woeful and their bullpen even worse and if they can’t address those needs in a hurry they could very well become sellers again in a hurry which could see some valuable parts on their way out the door. The Reds will send Dan Straily to the mound who is 2-1 with a 3.05 ERA as he will match up with Iwakuma who is a disappointing 1-4 and carries a 4.38 ERA heading into Friday night’s show down.
The Mariners are 7-1 in their last eight series openers, 16-5 in Iwakuma’s last 21 road starts against a team with a losing record, and 11-4 in their last 15 road games overall, while the Reds are 5-0 in their last five against the AL West, 16-40 in their last 56 overall, and 7-22 in their last 29 interleague games. Cincy is a mess right now and things don’t slow down tonight as the M’s come to town and lay a beating.
