The New York Yankees look to stay hot with a win at the Oakland Athletics on Sunday.
The New York Yankees have shown a bit of life lately but need to stay hot to climb the AL East standings. The Yankees run continued in a 5-1 victory at Oakland for their 4th straight victory on Saturday. Yanks starter Masahiro Tanaka was at the top of his game with the lone run given up on five hits and a pair of BB over seven frames to up his record to 2-0. The Bronx Bombers posted eight hits and three walks with Robert Refsnyder doubling in two while Carlos Beltran and Starlin Castro each drove in a run and scored. Michael Pineda looks to break a two game skid when he takes the hill at Oakland Sunday. Pineda has struggled in these losses with ten runs allowed on 15 hits and five BB over 10.2 innings.

The Oakland Athletics are dangerous but haven’t been consistent which is why they are last in the AL West. The Athletics didn’t have enough on the mound or at the plate Saturday and the result was loss number three in a row. Athletics starter Sean Manaea was charged with all five runs on six hits and two bases on balls through 6.2 innings to drop to 1-2. The A’s mustered six hits and two walks with a Danny Valencia sacrifice fly scoring Matt McBride. The Athletics send Jesse Hahn to the mound to cool off the surging Yankees on Sunday. Hahn comes off an 8-5 win versus Texas with three runs allowed on ten hits including two homers in 6.2 frames.
The over is 8-3-1 in the Yankees last 12 overall and the over is 8-3-1 in their last 12 on grass while the under is 5-2-1 in their last 8 road games. The over is 7-2 in Oakland’s last 9 on grass and the over is 12-4 in their last 16 overall while the Athletics are 4-11 in their last 15 games on grass. New York are 4-12 in the last 16 meetings in Oakland and are 7-15 in the last 22 meetings. I’m backing Oakland but I’m not thrilled about betting them…
