The Cincinnati Reds head to the west coast to open a series with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Cincinnati Reds are probably already in the role of spoiler in the top heavy National League Central. The Reds dropped a 5-4 decision to visiting Seattle Sunday and have lost ten of eleven as a 3-0 first inning lead went by the wayside. Reds starter Alfredo Simon was charged with all five runs on nine hits and three BB over five frames to fall to 1-5. The Cinci offense consisted of eight hits and a base on balls with Adam Duvall going solo while Brandon Phillips doubled in a pair. Cincinnati tabs Brandon Finnegan as the starter in game one of the series at the Dodgers. Finnegan comes off of an 8-7 loss to Cleveland with four runs scored (three earned) on eight hits over 5.2 innings.

The Los Angeles Dodgers need a change in momentum if they expect to be a factor in the NL West. The Dodgers and Padres slugged away for 17 innings before the LAD scored a 9-5 victory in a 6+ hour marathon on Sunday. Kenta Maeda gave Los Angeles five innings with four runs scored on four hits and a walk with nine relievers used to finish off this one. Los Angeles totaled 16 hits and walked eight times with Yasiel Puig going 3-7 with two RBI’s and a run while Howie Kendrick homered and scored twice with Justin Turner slamming a pinch hit homer. Ace left hander Clayton Kershaw shoots for his 7th win when he opposes Cincinnati on Monday. Kershaw is riding a four game winning streak where he has allowed three runs in 33 frames.
Cincinnati are 16-42 in their last 58 overall and are 16-42 in their last 58 games on grass while going 16-38 in their last 54 road games. The under is 16-7 in the Dodgers last 23 home games and the over is 32-15-4 in their last 51 Monday games while going 8-2-1 in Kershaw’s last 11 Monday starts. The under is 17-8-1 in the last 26 meetings. After a 17 inning marathon that was 6+ hours of boring, I’m not sure what the Dodgers have left in the tank but they do have Kershaw…
