Philadelphia totaled 12 hits and a walk with Maikel Franco and Tommy Joseph smacking solo bombs while Tyler Goeddel scored twice. The Phillies hand the ball to Jeremy Hellickson for the game two start versus the Tigers. Hellickson has been a pleasant surprise in his first season with Philadelphia at 4-2 with a 3.99 ERA.

The Tigers stayed on a roll with their 7th win in eight contests after receiving just enough pitching and hitting to down a determined Philadelphia squad on Monday night. Detroit starter Mike Pelfrey allowed all four runs on eleven hits including a pair of homers through six innings to pick up the win. The Tigers offense amassed 12 hits and a pair of free passes with Miguel Cabrera connecting on two homers while JD Martinez and Nick Castellanos also left the yard.The Tigers go with Justin Verlander on the bump for game two of their series with visiting Philadelphia. Verlander comes off of a 6-3 victory versus Minnesota with all three runs plated on six hits in 7.1 frames.
