The Milwaukee Brewers look to stay hot as they return home to face off against the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night.
The Reds’ tough start to the season continues with a road trip in Milwaukee on Friday night as they look for just their 16th win of the season, and while the Brewers haven’t been great on the whole this season they are playing very well right now and are the odds on favourites to win tonight’s series opener. The Reds have a decent lineup still despite moving some pieces around in the offseason in the form of Todd Frazier and Aroldis Chapman but Joey Votto isn’t nearly enough for this team to find consistent success and their rotation and bullpen is among the worst in baseball.

The Brewers meanwhile are starting to heat up and now return to Miller Park looking for another victory, this time against the Reds and John Lamb. Milwaukee will send Zach Davies to the mound who is a disappointing 1-3 with a 5.75 ERA while Lamb is 0-2 with a 5.40 ERA which should set up a high scoring affair here between these two National League Central foes. Milwaukee is 4-1 in their last five games against the NL Central and if they can get it going early against Lamb they should have the wherewithal to hold on for another key divisional win.
The Reds are 0-4 in their last four games following an off day, 1-4 in Lamb’s last five road starts, and 2-12 in his last 14 overall, while the Brewers are 4-1 in their last five following a game in which they gave up less than two runs, 1-4 in their last five Friday games, and 3-8 in their last 11 series openers. This game is destined to soar over the number and in that case I like the more balanced lineup which goes to the home side here.
