The New York Yankees head to the Sunshine State to begin a series with the Tampa Bay Rays.
The New York Yankees are just trying to hold on to the momentum of the past few weeks and avoiding losing streaks is the only way to do that. The Yankees had won six in a row but now have dropped back to back contests following a 3-1 loss to the visiting Blue Jays on Thursday. Yanks starter CC Sabathia was done in by poor defense and a lack of support with a pair of unearned runs allowed on two hits and a base on balls over seven frames to drop his record to 3-3. The Bronx Bombers totaled six hits and three walks with Starlin Castro blasting his 6th homer. The Yankees give the series opening start at Tampa Bay with Masahiro Tanaka on the bump. Tanaka is shooting for back to back wins after defeating Oakland 5-1 with lone run scored on five hits over seven innings.

The Tampa Bay Rays appeared to be finding the groove but have tailed off the past week. The Rays recent funk continued with a 9-1 loss to visiting Miami on Thursday and saddled the team with defeats in five of six. Nothing went favorably for the Rays with starter Drew Smyly charged with five runs on six hits through six innings to fall to 2-6 with Ryan Garton giving up three runs on six hits in two innings. TB mustered seven hits and walked twice with the lone run scoring on Brandon Guyer’s 6th homer while Corey Dickerson enjoyed a three hit afternoon. Tampa Bay kicks off the series with visiting New York with Chris Archer on the mound. Archer is coming off of a 9-4 loss at Detroit with six runs allowed on eight hits in three frames.
The under is 12-3 in the Yankees last 15 on astroturf and is 5-2-2 in their last 9 Friday games while New York are 3-7 in their last 10 Friday games. The over is 7-2-1 in Tampa Bay’s last 10 overall and the Rays are 2-7 in their last 9 Friday games while the under is 15-5-1 in their last 21 home games. The under is 12-5-2 in the last 19 meetings and Tampa Bay are 7-3 in Archer’s last 10 starts versus New York. This would be a game that I would normally just watch…
