The Miami Marlins look to end their series with the Atlanta Braves with a victory.
The Miami Marlins are not one of the favorites in the NL East but they are trying to hang tough. The Marlins are in need of a win after a 7-2 loss at Atlanta for consecutive defeats. Marlins starter Wei-Yin Chen gave up a lone run over five frames before Jose Urena and Edwin Jackson allowed three runs apiece. The Fish totaled seven hits and walked four times with Cole Gillespie driving in a run and scoring while Adeiny Hechavarria knocked in a run. The Marlins hand the ball to Tom Koehler who has gone winless in his last four trips to the mound. Koehler had control issues in a 4-3 loss versus Tampa Bay with three runs allowed on six hits and five BB over five innings.

The struggling Atlanta Braves are behind the eight ball in the National League East and I don’t know if they will get out from behind it. The Braves defeated Miami for the second straight day behind great pitching and solid hitting. Bravos starter Aaron Blair gave up both runs through 5.2 innings with five relievers putting up zeros. Atlanta managed six hits and four walks with Gordon Beckham leading the way on a 2-4 effort with a homer, three RBI’s and two runs while Nick Markakis knocked in a pair and scored. Julio Teheran toes the rubber against the Marlins for the first time this season. Teheran has been outstanding with four runs allowed in his last six outings covering 40.2 frames.
The under is 6-2 in Miami’s last 8 on grass and the Marlins are 2-6 in their last 8 Sunday games while going 2-6 in their last 8 games on grass. Atlanta are 15-37 in their last 52 home games and are 27-65 in their last 92 overall while going 27-65 in their last 92 games on grass. The over is 7-1-1 in the last 9 meetings and the Braves are 8-3 in Teheran’s last 11 starts versus Miami. I know this goes against logic thinking Atlanta can win a few games but we’ll see…
