The Houston Astros visit Chase Field to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks in interleague action.
The Houston Astros seem to have found a groove but it has to last more then a week. Perhaps the Astros are finally emerging from their slow start after a three run 13th gave them an 8-6 victory at the Angels for their 5th win in six contests. Stros starter Doug Fister gave up three runs (one earned) over six frames before Ken Giles allowed two in the 7th to record a blown save with six relievers holding off the LAA the rest of the way. Houston totaled 14 hits and walked seven times with pinch hitter Carlos Correa smacking a three run jack in the 13th while Jake Marisnick went 2-4 with a homer and two RBI’s. The Astros are slated to send Collin McHugh to the mound Monday in an interleague bout with Arizona. McHugh comes off of a 4-3 win versus Baltimore with all three runs on eight hits with ten K’s over 5.1 innings.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are looking for a spark that will get them back in the National League West. The Diamondbacks rode some early scoring and solid pitching to down visiting San Diego 6-3 Sunday for back to back wins. D-Backs starter Archie Bradley was at his best with all three runs scored on four hits through 7.1 innings to improve to 2-0. Zona logged nine hits and walked five times with Chris Owings leaving the yard while Phil Gosselin scored twice and Paul Goldschmidt knocked in two. Rookie Edwin Escobar makes his first career start versus the Astros on Monday afternoon. Escobar will be called up from Triple A Reno after he was claimed off of waivers from Boston.
The under is 8-2 in Houston’s last 10 on grass and is 8-2 in their last 10 overall while the over is 9-3-3 in their last 15 Monday games. The over is 9-1-1 in Arizona’s last 11 on grass and is 9-1-1 in their last 11 overall while the Diamondbacks are 3-9 in their last 12 home games. The Astros are 3-8 in the last 11 meetings in Arizona. I have no clue what to expect from Escobar so I’ll side with Houston…
