The Boston Red Sox visit Camden Yards to battle the Baltimore Orioles on Monday afternoon.
The Boston Red Sox sit atop the American League East but can ill afford a losing streak with Baltimore right behind them. The Red Sox ended a three game skid with a 5-3, eleven inning victory at Toronto to maintain their division lead. Boston starter David Price was solid again with two runs plated over 6.1 frames before Heath Hembree served up a solo homer to blow the save with three relievers putting up zeros the rest of the way. The Red Sox produced nine hits and walked eight times with Dustin Pedroia going 2-6 with two RBI’s and a run while Mookie Betts scored twice. Steven Wright faces the Orioles for the first time in his career on Monday. Wright comes off of a 10-3 win versus Colorado with three runs allowed (two earned) on seven hits in seven frames.

The Baltimore Orioles are still in the chase for the lead in the AL East despite a slow week. After losing five of six I would say the Orioles were very relieved to pick up a 6-4 victory at Cleveland on Sunday. O’s starter Chris Tillman wasn’t at his best but he was good enough with all four runs scored on four hits and three bases on balls through six innings to improve to 7-1. The Birds logged eight hits and walked four times with Hyun Soo Kim and Nolan Reimold slamming long balls while Mark Trumbo ripped a three run double. The Orioles go with Tyler Wilson on the hill for his first career meeting versus the Red Sox. Wilson comes off of a 4-3 loss at Houston with all four runs allowed on six hits including two homers.
The over is 11-3-2 in Boston’s last 16 on grass and the over is 15-5-2 in their last 22 overall while the Red Sox are 7-3 in their last 10 Monday games. Baltimore are 22-8 in their last 30 home games and Boston are 1-7 in their last 8 meetings in Baltimore. I’m a Baltimore fan and I hope they are up to the task here…
