Up at Coors Field on Monday, the Cincinnati Reds and the Colorado Rockies will be kicking off their series.
The Reds played the Brewers this weekend. Each team got a win on Friday and Saturday, then on Sunday Milwaukee won the series by eking out a 5-4 win.
As for the Rockies, they just finished up with the Giants. The two teams split the first two games as well, and on Sunday in the finale, San Francisco blew out Colorado 8-3.

For Monday’s game, the Reds will turn to right-hander Dan Straily. In his 11 games (eight starts) and 2-2 record this season, Straily has a 2.98 ERA with a 1.12 WHIP in 54.1 innings. On Wednesday against the Dodgers, Straily posted three runs on three hits in seven innings.
The top-heavy Reds lineup boasts a pretty good assortment of talent. Zack Cozart has 44 hits with 24 runs this year. Cozart got the day off Sunday after enduring a bit of a slump. Brandon Phillips has put up 44 hits with 22 runs and 22 RBI. Jay Bruce has 43 hits with 26 runs and 31 RBI. Bruce popped a solo homer on Sunday.
The Rockies will opt to go with Chad Bettis (RHP) on Monday. In his 10 starts and 4-3 record this season, Bettis has a 4.90 ERA with a 1.30 WHIP in 60.2 innings of work. On Wednesday against the Red Sox, Bettis gave up seven runs in 4.2 innings.
Buoyed by a friendly ballpark, the Rockies have a nice lineup on offense. Carlos Gonzalez has 57 hits with 32 runs and 19 RBI. Nolan Arenado has 14 homers with 38 RBI and 34 runs. Trevor Story has 14 homers with 36 RBI and 29 runs with 53 hits. Gonzalez and Story both popped solo homers on Sunday.
The Reds are 28-62 in their last 90 game ones of a series, and 1-6 in their last seven Monday games.
Meanwhile, the Rockies are 0-4 in their last four Monday games, but 5-1 in Bettis’ last six game one starts.
I’m not sure what to think of Bettis right now, so I’ll opt to go with Straily and the Reds--even though they’ve had some trouble winning games lately. I’m not too confident with it, though.
