The New York Yankees continue their series at the Rogers Centre versus the Toronto Blue Jays.
The New York Yankees have been struggling for consistent offense so their pitching is being leaned on to carry the load. That trend continued Monday but the Yankees pitching was unable to win on their lonesome in a 4-2 loss at Toronto. Yanks starter Ivan Nova was charged with all four runs on eight hits over six frames to absorb the loss. The Bronx Bombers totaled five hits and walked three times but didn’t score until the 9th when Brian McCann a two run bomb that scored Carlos Beltran. Veteran CC Sabathia has turned back the clock over his last four trips to the mound with quality starts in each. Sabathia comes off of a 2-0 loss to the Blue jays with a pair of unearned runs allowed in seven innings.

The Blue Jays have been playing well the last week or so but the question is can they maintain a high level of play. The surging Blue Jays have won eight of eleven following Monday’s victory. Jays starter Marco Estrada was at his best with three hits and three free passes allowed through eight scoreless innings before Aaron Loup made things interesting when he surrendered a two run homer in the 9th. Toronto produced eight hits and walked once with Ryan Goins going deep and scoring twice while Edwin Encarnacion doubled in two. Left hander JA Happ shoots for consecutive victories when he opposes the Yankees for the second straight time. Happ defeated the Yankees 3-1 with three hits and three BB given up in seven frames.
The Yankees are 7-1 in their last 8 road games and the under is 14-4 in their last 18 on astroturf while New York are 8-3 in their last 11 overall. The under is 6-2 in Toronto’s last 8 Tuesday games and are 2-6 in their last 8 games on astroturf while the Blue Jays are 2-6 in their last 8 home games. The under is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings in Toronto. Sabathia has been great so the line is too chalky for me to bet but I’ll back the Jays…
