The Arizona Diamondbacks head to Wrigley Field to begin a weekend series with the Chicago Cubs.
The Arizona Diamondbacks need to get to .500 before they can think about challenging in the National League West. The Diamondbacks have been in funk the last few weeks and despite Thursday’s 3-0 win at Houston the team has still dropped seven of eleven. D-Backs starter Zack Greinke was at his best with a four hitter over seven frames while whiffing eleven to up his record to 7-3. The Snakes mustered seven hits and two walks with Nick Ahmed, and Chris Owings driving in runs while Welington Castillo drove in a run and scored. The Diamondbacks send Archie Bradley to the hill for his first career start versus the Cubs. Bradley comes off of a 6-3 win against San Diego with all three runs plated on four hits over 7.1 innings.

The Chicago Cubs have been the top dog in he National League Central as they have been able to avoid losing streaks. The Cubs stayed hot with a 7-2 win versus the visiting Dodgers Thursday for their 8th victory in nine contests. Cubbies starter Kyle Hendricks evened his record at 4-4 with both runs plated on three hits and a base on balls through eight innings. Chicago logged ten hits and walked three times with Kris Bryant, Javier Baez, Anthony Rizzo and Jason Heyward connecting on long balls.Veteran John Lackey draws Friday’s start against the Diamondbacks for the second meeting in 2016. Lackey defeated Philadelphia 7-2 last time out with a homer accounting for the lone run in seven frames.
The over is 9-1-1 in Arizona’s last 11 road games and is 13-2-1 in their last 16 overall while going 13-2-1 in their last 16 on grass. The Cubs are 44-17 in their last 61 home games and are 48-20 in their last 68 overall while Chicago are 48-20 in their last 68 games on grass. Arizona are 5-14 in their last 19 meetings in Chicago. I think the Cubs are the best team in the game right now so I’ll back them…
