The Houston Astros and Oakland Athletics continue their series at Minute Maid Park on Saturday.
The Oakland Athletics have been playing their best baseball over the past week or so but their hot streak as been at home. The Athletics five game winning streak came to an end in a big way with a lopsided 12-2 loss at Minute Maid Park Friday. A’s starter Jesse Hahn gave up seven runs in just 2/3 of an inning with Anthony Trigg charged with five runs on seven hits over four frames. Oakland logged eight hits and walked twice with Marcus Semien going solo while Billy Butler singled in Stephen Vogt. The Athletics hand the ball to lefty Rich Hill who opposes Houston for the second time in 2016. Hill comes off of a 4-2 win versus Detroit with both runs allowed on five hits while whiffing nine over 6.1 innings.

The Houston Astros have finally been looking like the team from a season ago and the question is whether they can continue playing well. The red hot Astros continued to roll after Friday’s victory was their 9th in eleven contests. Everything was clicking with Stros starter Doug Fister tossing a four hitter through six scoreless innings to up his record to 5-3. Houston racked up 16 hits and walked five times with Evan Gattis going 4-5 with a homer and four RBI’s while Colby Rasmus and Tony Kemp drove in two runs each and scored. The Astros send Collin McHugh to the hill for game number two of the series with Oakland. McHugh comes off a complete game 8-3 win at Arizona where he gave up all three runs on five hits.
The over is 15-5-1 in Oakland’s last 21 road games and Oakland are 3-8 in their last 11 road games. Houston are 22-6 in McHugh’s last 28 home starts and are 2-6 in McHugh’s last 8 Saturday starts while going 35-16 in McHugh’s last 51 starts on grass. The under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings in Houston. I’ll back Hill who is outstanding but I’m still not betting the A’s…
