The New York Yankees look to keep the sticks hot as they continue their series on the road against the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday.
The Yankees haven’t had the greatest start to the season but if they can leave Baltimore with some momentum and take a few games off of their division rivals they could get back on track and turn things around heading into the second week of June. The Yanks hung eight runs on the O’s last night including a four-run fourth inning and held on for an 8-6 win that gave them their 25th win of the season heading into Sunday’s show down at Camden Yards. The Yankees will send CC Sabathia as the Yankees look to get out of their 3-7 slump and they will have Kevin Gausman to deal with on the other side as the young Orioles pitcher looks to give his team their 21st win of the season at home.

The Orioles meanwhile are off to a very nice start this season and right in the mix for the AL East division lead with the Boston Red Sox and with the power they possess at the plate they are never out of a game against anyone. Baltimore though did take a loss last night as the Yankees offense put on a clinic and while the O’s did put up six it wasn’t enough as the Pinstripers netted a big win and set up another show down on Sunday. Sabathia is 3-4 with a 2.85 ERA this season while Gausman is 0-3 but does have a decent 3.78 mark that is expected to come down after today’s starts with New York.
The Yankees are 9-4 in their last 13 games on a Sunday, 0-4 in their last four against the AL East, and 5-2 in Sabathia’s last seven Sunday starts while the Orioles are 25-10 in their last 25 home games, 17-7 in their last 24 against the AL East, and 1-5 in their last six against a lefty. New York got the best of the O’s on Saturday and I think they get there again as Sabathia has been pitching well this season and with their bullpen being so strong I anticipate another win for the Yankees today.
