The Toronto Blue Jays continue their series with AL East foe the Boston Red Sox on Sunday.
Don’t look now but the Toronto Blue Jays are playing as well as anybody which makes them a threat in the American League East. Despite Saturday’s 6-4 defeat at Fenway Park the Blue Jays have still won eight of eleven. Jays starter Marcus Stroman was charged with all six runs on nine hits and five BB over 5.2 frames to fall to 5-2. Toronto logged four hits and walked six times with Kevin Pillar and Justin Smoak knocking in runs. Marco Estrada shoots for win number three in a row when he opposes the Red Sox for the third time in 2016. Estrada comes off of a 4-2 win versus the Yankees with eight scoreless innings.

The Boston Red Sox are going back and forth with the Orioles for first in the AL East and can’t afford losing streaks of any length right now. The Red Sox snapped a three game slide with Saturday’s victory versus the visiting Blue Jays to even their series. Boston starter Steven Wright gave up three runs allowed three runs on three hits and five bases on balls through five innings with three relievers allowing a run over four frames. The Red Sox did their damage on eleven hits and five walks with Mookie Betts and David Ortiz driving in two runs apiece while Xander Bogaerts had three hits and scored twice. Left hander Eduardo Rodriguez makes his second start of the season since coming off the disabled list. Rodriguez won his first outing by a 6-2 count with both runs allowed on six hits in six frames.
The under is 6-1-1 in Toronto’s last 8 Sunday games and is 21-5-1 in their last 27 road games while going 19-7 in their last 26 on grass. The over is 11-3-2 in Boston’s last 16 home games and the under is 10-3 in their last 13 Sunday games while the Red Sox are 13-4 in their last 17 home games. The under is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings. I think Rodriguez is capable of getting the job done here…
