The Arizona Diamondbacks conclude their visit to Wrigley Field with a Sunday bout with the Chicago Cubs.
The Arizona Diamondbacks are struggling their bats and arms on the same page which has made it difficult to stay in the NL West race. The Diamondbacks took a step in the wrong direction with a 5-3 defeat at Wrigley Field Saturday and have dropped eight of eleven overall. D-Backs starter Edwin Escobar was charged with four runs on five hits and two BB over 3.2 frames to fall to 0-2. Arizona mustered four hits and walked three times with Yamany Tomas going solo while Jake Lamb cracked a two run bomb. Left hander Patrick Corbin looks to end his struggles on the mound when he faces the Cubs on Sunday. Corbin comes off an 8-5 loss to Houston with seven runs allowed on nine hits and two BB over 3.1 innings.

The Chicago Cubs are making it difficult on the rest of the National League Central because they get both their arms and bats on the same page more often then not. With Saturday’s victory the Cubs have won ten of eleven and continue to be effective on the mound and at the plate. Cubbies starter Jason Hammel upped his record to 7-1 with a one hitter through seven innings that happened to be a two run homer. Chicago’s attack consisted of seven hits and three free passes with Hammel driving in a pair while Dexter Fowler and Anthony Rizzo going solo. Ace Jake Arrieta looks to stay unbeaten when he matches up with Arizona for the second time in 2016. Arrieta did not get a decision in a 5-0 loss to the Dodgers with seven scoreless frames.
The over is 5-1-2 in Arizona’s last 8 Sunday games and is 13-3-1 in their last 17 overall while going 13-3-1 in their last 17 on grass. The under is 8-1 in the Cubs last 9 home games and is 7-1 in Chicago’s last 8 overall while going 7-1 in their last 8 on grass. The Diamondbacks are 1-7 in the last 8 meetings with the Cubs. I’m going with the hot squad even though Corbin can be tough…
