The Baltimore Orioles look to extend their AL East lead at the expense of the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday.
The Kansas City Royals have dropped to second in the American League Central and need to get the momentum back. The Royals will have to wait another day to regain the momentum after falling to the Orioles 4-1 on Monday. KC starter Danny Duffy gave up two runs on solo homers over 6.1 frames before two relievers allowed a run apiece. The KC attack produced five hits and two walks with Paulo Orlando going 2-4 with two singles and a run. Kansas City is slated to send Yordano Ventura to the bump for his second match up with the Orioles this year. Ventura threw well in a 5-4 loss at Cleveland last time out with two runs allowed (one earned) on seven hits over six innings.

The Baltimore Orioles have retaken the lead in the American League East but can’t relax with Toronto making a move. The Orioles have now won five of six after downing visiting Kansas City Monday and more important was they picked up ground in the race. O’s starter Mike Wright tossed his best game of the season with a run given up on five hits and a pair of free passes through seven innings to get the win. The Birds totaled eight hits and walked twice with Mark Trumbo, Matt Weiters and Manny Machado slamming long balls. The Orioles are hoping Ubaldo Jimenez can right the ship when he opposes Kansas City Tuesday. Jimenez has been hit hard the four outings with 20 runs given up in 16.2 innings of work.
The over is 10-2-1 in Kansas City’s last 13 overall and is 10-2-1 in their last 13 on grass while the Royals are 42-20 in their last 62 Tuesday games. The over is 7-2 in Jimenez’s last 9 Tuesday starts and Baltimore are 7-2 in Jimenez’s last 9 Tuesday starts while the Orioles are 20-6 in Jimenez’s last 26 home starts. Kansas City are 12-4 in the last 16 meetings and the over is 5-2-1 in the last 8 meetings. I don’t like the way the Royals are playing and I don’t like what I see from Jimenez so take this with a grain of salt…
