The Chicago Cubs look for yet another road victory on Tuesday night as they continue their series in Philadelphia against the Phillies.
The Cubs got a masterful performance from Jon Lester last night and while the bullpen did their best to spoil it by giving up four runs in the ninth, the Cubs held on for a 6-4 win and rewarded Lester for his efforts. The Cubs continue to be the best team in baseball and are so dangerous across the board and while the Phillies have surprised people with how well they have played this season it is clear they are still no match for the Cubs who have so much power and speed at the plate and the best rotation in the majors. Chicago will turn to Kyle Hendricks on Tuesday as he will face off against Jerad Eickhoff who looked decent to start the year but has fallen by the wayside over his last few starts and will need to twirl a gem here to get his team the victory.

The Phillies head into today’s game sitting a game under the .500 mark and they are a measly 2-8 in their last 10 contests which has washed away their fast start to the season and if they can’t play their way out soon they run the risk of falling way behind the Mets and Nationals in the NL East. The Phils do have a decent roster and are trying to emulate what the Cubs do in terms of cultivating a young core and building through the draft but they are light years behind where the North Siders are right now and have a ton of work to do still if they’re going to get back to the World Series days from the late 2000’s.
The Cubs are 7-0 in their last seven games against the NL East, 39-16 in their last 55 overall, and 28-11 in their last 29 road games, while the Phillies are 7-3 in their last 10 Tuesday games, 2-8 in their last 10 overall, and 1-5 in Eickhoff’s last six starts. This series is just a match up nightmare for the Phils and the Cubs continue to roll behind another solid outing from Hendricks.
