The Texas Rangers are one of the hottest teams in baseball as they try to pull away in the American League West. The red hot Rangers had won nine of ten before falling to the Astros and dropping a game in the standings to visiting Houston where the bats were silent. Texas starter Yu Darvish gave up a solo homer through five innings before Tom Wilhelmsen gave up a pair of 7th inning runs. The Rangers logged ten hits and walked once with Ian Desmond slapping an RBI single that scored Bobby Wilson. Martin Perez toes the rubber against visiting Houston in the final game of the series Thursday. Perez has won three in a row with a 1.39 WHIP and 2.50 ERA in this stretch.
Houston are 11-4 in their last 15 overall and are 11-4 in their last 15 games on grass while the over is 7-3 in their last 10 overall. The over is 6-2 in Texas last 8 overall and is 6-2 in their last 8 on grass while the Rangers are 6-2 in their last 8 Thursday games. Houston are 12-39 in the last 51 meetings in Texas and the over is 6-2-1 in the last 9 meetings in Texas. Perez has been solid so I’ll back him here…
