The Baltimore Orioles travel north of the border to open a series with the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Baltimore Orioles have moved back in to first in the American League East with the intention of staying there. The surging Orioles have won six of seven after downing Kansas City 4-0 on Wednesday behind a strong effort on the mound. O’s starter Chris Tillman picked up the win with eight hits given up over 7.1 scoreless innings while whiffing nine. The Birds totaled four hits and walked four times with Ryan Flaherty led the attack with a pair of RBI’s and a run while Adam Jones and Hyun Soo Kim knocked in runs. The Toronto Blue Jays look to regain the momentum they were riding a week ago. The Blue Jays ended their series with a convincing 7-2 win on Wednesday afternoon where both the arms and bats were at their best. Jays starter RA Dickey gave up nine hits including a two run homer in the first before leaving after 5.1 innings. Toronto totaled nine hits and walked three times with Josh Donaldson going 3-4 with a homer, three RBI’s and three runs with Kevin Pillar smacking a two run bomb while Justin Smoak knocked in two and scored. Toronto opens the series on the bump with Marcus Stroman who faces Baltimore for the second time in 2016. Stroman has struggled the past two times out with 13 runs given up on 20 hits and six BB in eleven frames.
Baltimore are 9-3 in their last 12 Thursday games and the over is 8-3-1 in their last 12 overall. The under is 7-2 in Toronto’s last 9 overall and Toronto are 9-4 in their last 13 overall while the over is 7-2 in Stroman’s last 9 home starts. The Orioles are 21-50 in the last 71 meetings in Toronto. If I bet this I would go small on the over but not a fan of this one…
