The Minnesota Twins look to sweep the Miami Marlins Thursday night at Target Field.
The Miami Marlins could use a win after losing four of their last five games. The Marlins have allowed 13 runs in their last three games and six or more runs in four of their last five games. The Miami Marlins have an ERA of 3.96 and have lost eight straight games when allowing more than three runs. Offensively, Marcell Ozuna leads Miami with 69 hits, Giancarlo Stanton has 29 RBI and Justin Bour has nine home runs. Tom Koehler gets the nod, and he’s 3-6 with a 4.50 ERA and 45 strikeouts this season. This will be Koehler’s second career game against the Twins.

The Minnesota Twins look for another win after losing six of their last nine games. The Twins have scored 18 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in five of their last six games. The Minnesota Twins offense is rolling right now, and they’ve won seven of their last 10 games when scoring more than three runs. Eduardo Nunez leads Minnesota with 63 hits, Brian Dozier has 25 RBI and Miguel Sano has 11 home runs. Ervin Santana takes the hill, and he’s 1-5 with a 4.50 ERA and 45 strikeouts this season. Santana is 2-2 with a 4.15 ERA and 38 strikeouts in his career against the Marlins.
The Marlins are 4-0 in their last 4 during game 3 of a series and 1-6 in Koehlers last 7 starts. The Twins are 3-7 in their last 10 Thursday games and 1-10 in Santanas last 11 starts.
Despite these results it's no secret the Marlins are the better team. The Twins have also swept just two teams since last September. Miami should have little trouble hitting Santana and the bullpen should be better. I'll gladly take the better team and the plus money.
