The Detroit Tigers look to keep the hot bats swinging as they hung 11 on the Chicago White Sox last night when the teams meet up again on Wednesday.
The Tigers continue their AL Central show down at the Cell with the White Sox and will look for an encore performance from last night when they put up 11 runs and accumulated 16 hits en route to an 11-8 final. The Tigers have no shortage of fire power at the plate and are among the best offenses in baseball and if they can get their rotation up to speed they will be a tough team to face off against in the playoffs if they can qualify. Detroit though will need to get Mike Pelfrey out of the dog house as he has been dreadful this season with a 1-6 record and 5.23 ERA and with a show down with Chris Sale in this one things don’t get any easier for Pelfrey who will have to go pitch for pitch with one of the league’s best arms which is an unenviable task for anybody, let alone a pitcher struggling with his new team.

The White Sox meanwhile have cooled off considerably from their red hot start to the season and are now sitting right on the .500 mark at 32-32 and if not for an ugly stretch from both Detroit and Kansas City the Sox could very well be way back in the division race. Chicago does have a nice roster led by Todd Frazier, Jose Abreu, and Adam Eaton and they do have Sale as their ace but the Sox need to add a piece or two if they’re going to compete for the Central division crown as they seem to be missing some pop at the bottom of their lineup and some oomph at the back end of their rotation.
The Tigers are 6-1 in their last seven against the AL Central, 7-3 in their last 10 overall, and 6-14 in their last 20 road games while the White Sox are 3-7 in their last 10 home games, 8-20 in their last 28 overall, and 6-1 in Sale’s last seven home starts. The odds are with the Tigers here as to me they are the better team but this one is all about pitching and with Pelfrey being so bad and Sale so good there is no where else to look. Add in the White Sox bullpen being better and I think the home team gets one back tonight.
