The Houston Astros end their series with the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday night.
The Houston Astros are just trying to reach .500 and have been stumbling a bit lately. The Astros had dropped five of seven but came up big Tuesday in a 5-2 win at Busch Stadium. Stros starter Doug Fister gave up both runs on solo jacks over 7.1 frames to grab the win with three relievers holding the Cardinals off the scoreboard. Houston did their damage on nine hits with Colby Rasmus going deep and scoring twice while Fister drove in two and Carlos Gomez scoring three times. Houston sends Collin McHugh to the bump to face the Cardinals for the first time since 2014. McHugh comes off a 5-3 loss at Texas with four runs plated on seven hits over 3.2 innings.

The Cards totaled six hits with Brandon Moss and Matt Adams smacking solo homers. Adam Waiinwright is slated to be on the mound to match up with the Astros Wednesday,. Wainwright did not get a decision in a 3-2 win at Cincinnati where he gave up both runs on two hits and a walk in six frames.

The over is 8-2 in the Cardinals last 10 home games and the under is 15-5-2 in their last 22 interleague games while the over is 6-2 in their last 8 on grass. The Astros are 9-24 in the last 32 meetings. I think Wainwright is beginning to round in to form so…
