The Colorado Rockies make the long trip to south Florida to begin a weekend set with the Miami Marlins.
The Colorado Rockies are looking to improve on their third place position in the National League West and reach .500 and have been heading in the right direction with wins in eight of ten after defeating the visiting Yankees 6-3 on Wednesday. Rockies starter Chad Bettis evened his record at 5-5 with all three runs scoring (two earned) on seven hits over six frames. Colorado racked up 13 hits and three walks with Nolan Arenado going deep and driving in three with DJ LeMahieu driving in two and scoring twice while Charlie Blackmon scored two times. Jon Gray gets the call to the mound for his first career start against the dangerous Marlins. Gray did not get a decision in a 7-5 loss to San Diego last time out with three runs plated (one earned) on four hits over seven innings.

The Miami Marlins are third in the National League East and saw a chance to pick up a crucial third straight win go by the wayside in a 6-3 loss at San Diego on Wednesday. Marlins starter Justin Nicolini was hit hard with five runs given up on ten hits over 4.2 frames to fall to 2-4. The Fish couldn’t keep up on nine hits and a trio of bases on balls with Christian Yelich, Adeiny Hechavarria and Miguel Rojas driving in runs. Adam Conley is slated to be on the mound for his first ever match up with heavy hitting Colorado on Friday. Coley comes off of a 6-0 loss at Arizona with all six runs scored (five earned) on eleven hits in five frames.
The under is 6-2-1 in Colorado’s last 9 overall and the under is 6-2-1 in their last 9 on grass while the Rockies are 2-7 in Gray’s last 9 road starts. The over is 8-3 in Miami’s last 11 Friday games. I think I prefer Conley ay home versus Gray on the road…
