The Seattle Mariners have been struggling the past few weeks but are still second in the American League West. The Mariners broke out the lumber in Friday’s 8-4 victory at Fenway Park for consecutive victories. M’s starter Hisashi Iwakuma wasn’t great with four runs plated on nine hits over seven frames but that was still a winning effort. Seattle logged ten hits and walked three times with Robinson Cano going deep and driving in two while Franklin Gutierrez homered twice and knocked in six. Left hander Wade Miley gets the ball from Seattle for game two of their series at Fenway Park. The Boston Red Sox are clinging to second in the American League East although they haven’t been churning out the wins. The Red Sox need some momentum and didn’t find it Friday and were saddled with losses in four of five. Boston starter Roenis Elias was charged with seven runs and three BB including a pair of homers through four innings to absorb the loss. The Red Sox pounded out eleven hits with David Ortiz smacking a two run bomb while three players knocked in runs and four scored. The Red Sox give Saturday’s start to veteran Rick Porcello who is coming off of a 7-4 defeat at Minnesota. Porcello was charged with four runs (one earned) on five hits and two BB in seven frames.
The over is 6-2 in Seattle’s last 8 road games and is 13-5-1 in their last 19 on grass while going 15-6-1 in the Mariners last 22 overall. The over is 6-0-2 in Boston’s last 8 Saturday games while going 13-6-2 in their last 21 home games. The over is 8-0-1 in the last 9 meetings in Boston and the over is 15-5-2 in the last 22 meetings. Heavy trends to the over and I’m looking that way…
