The Chicago White Sox lock horns with the rival Cleveland Indians in game two of their series.
The Chicago White Sox have been on a three week slide but are still just a few games out of the American League Central lead. The White Sox dropped a game in the standings after a 3-2 loss at first place Cleveland where the bats struggled. CWS starter Jose Quintana gave up two runs over 7.2 frames for a no decision with Nate Jones falling to 2-2 with a walk off homer in the bottom of the 9th giving him the loss. Chicago logged seven hits and walked four times with Jose Abreu and Avisail Garcia knocking in runs. The White Sox are looking for James Shields to break out of his recent slide when he takes the hill at Cleveland. In his last three outings Shields has been charged with 23 runs on 14 hits including six homers over nine innings.

The Cleveland Indians grip on first in the American League Central has loosened with some poor play the past few weeks. The Indians ended a three game slide with a much needed victory versus a division rival on Friday night. Tribe starter Trevor Bauer gave up a run and struck out nine through seven innings before Cody Allen gave up a run in the 9th for a BS only to win it when Cleveland scored in the bottom of the 9th. The Tribe produced eight hits with Carlos Santana going deep while Jason Kipnis and Francisco Lindor drove in runs. Danny Salazar toes the rubber against the White Sox for the second time in 2016. Salazar has been on a strong roll the past three times out with a 3-0 record and 1.83 ERA in 19.2 frames.
The White Sox are 2-9 in their last 11 road games and the over is 16-5-1 in their last 22 road games while Chicago are 6-15 in their last 21 overall. The under is 8-3-2 in Cleveland’s last 13 overall and the under is 8-3-2 in their last 13 on grass while the over is 40-16-2 in the Indians last 58 home games. I like Santana so why not back him…
