The Baltimore Orioles look to maintain their grip on first in the East with a win versus the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Toronto Blue Jays are surging and the rest of the American League East is taking notice. The Blue Jays cooled off for a day in a 4-2 defeat at Baltimore but have still won eight of eleven. Jays starter RA Dickey fell to 4-8 with three runs plated (two earned) on seven hits over six frames. Toronto totaled seven hits and walked six times with Ezequiel Carrera going solo while Devon Travis singled in Kevin Pillar. Marcus Stroman makes his third start of the season against the Orioles on Sunday. Stroman comes off of an 11-3 rout of visiting Philadelphia with two runs scored over seven innings.

The Baltimore Orioles grip on the top spot in the American League East isn’t rock solid so a winning streak is in order. The Orioles had dropped five of seven and were desperate for some kind of momentum swing which they received from starter Yovani Gallardo. Fresh off the disabled list, Gallardo held the Blue Jays to two runs on five hits and four bases on balls through five innings for his second victory. The O’s mustered nine hits and walked three times with Jonathan Schoop going 3-4 with an RBI and three runs while Mark Trumbo drove in his 51st run.The Baltimore Orioles turn to Chris Tillman to contain the Blue Jays offense on Sunday. Tillman comes in off of a 3-2 win at Boston with a single run allowed in seven frames.
