The Texas Rangers look to continue their impressive series on Sunday in St. Louis against the Cardinals after a come from behind win yesterday.
The Texas Rangers continue their impressive season with another win against the St. Louis Cardinals last night and they can complete the sweep with a victory here as they send Martin Perez to the mound who will face off against Mike Leake. The Rangers are an impressive 19 games over the .500 mark and have the best record in the American League and second best overall just behind the Chicago Cubs and if they can add another piece to their rotation they will be a very tough team to beat come playoff time. Texas is a pretty well priced dog here as the odds makers are thinking Leake will be able to break out of his funk and start producing the way the organization hoped for when they acquired him in the offseason.

The Cardinals head into tonight’s game sitting in second place in the NL Central behind the Cubs and to be frank that is probably the best they can hope for this season as they don’t have the legs to keep up with Chicago and they will have to keep their rearview in focus as the Pirates and and even the Brewers are charging. St. Louis is still a very good team and are led on the bump by Adam Wainwright and Carlos Martinez but they are a far stretch from the teams we have seen in recent years and to me they are even overachieving a bit right now as I don’t see them as being much of a threat in the National League this season.
Texas is 4-0 in their last four road games, 14-3 in their last 17 interleague games against a team with a winning record, and 5-1 in their last interleague road games while the Cards are 1-5 in their last interleague home games, 2-6 in their last eight home games, and 6-2 in Leake’s last eight. I have no idea how or why the Rangers are this heavy of a dog as they are clearly the beter team and Leake isn’t the pitcher to slow them down. Hammer the Rangers.
