The Houston Astros have yet to show they are the same team they were a season ago but they are within striking distance of the Wild Card. The Astros played one of their best games Sunday in a 6-0 victory versus Cincinnati behind dominant hitting and pitching. Stros starter Mike Fiers improved to 5-3 with 5.2 scoreless innings with Chris Devenski keeping Cincinnati off the scoreboard over 3.1 frames. Houston did their damage on eight hits and four walks with Evan Gattis and Luis Valbuena each going deep with four RBI’s and three runs between them. Doug Fister toes the rubber versus the Angels on Monday night shooting for win number four in a row. In 13 starts, Fister has gone 7-3 with a 3.26 ERA covering 80 innings.
The over is 9-4-2 in the Angels last 15 overall and is 9-4-2 in their last 15 on grass. The under is 9-1 in Houston’s last 10 overall and the Astros are 8-2 in their last 10 home games while going 15-6 in their last 21 games on grass. Los Angeles are 3-9 in the last 12 meetings in Houston. For some reason the Astros step up with Fister on the hill…
